Fennel Sausage Sheet Pan Pizza that’s made with scratch made sausage seasoned with fennel seed, red wine, and spices served over hand stretched pizza dough with a simple crushed tomato sauce, fresh shredded mozzarella, Calabrian chilies and garnished with basil leaves. This thin crust sheet pan pizza is perfect for a weeknight dinner or game day.
The true masterpiece flavour behind this awesome creation. Ridiculously easy to make you wouldn’t believe it. For this recipe we’re just using ground pork since that’s typically the main ingredient in sausage meat. From there it gets seasoned with lots of fennel seed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper and some red wine to help bind it all together and give it a nice colour. Cover it and let it rest to give the ingredients time to work their way into the pork and become a sausage blend.
Since the oven will be at such a high temperature anyway and the sausage dolloped in such small pieces it will take the same amount of time to cook as the pizza dough. This sausage recipe does make a lot and more than what’s needed to fill a pizza so there will be leftovers. What to do with those leftovers? swap it for regular sausage or ground beef, make pasta with it, eggs, casseroles- you name it.
A pizza that does not disappoint you’ll wish you made two! I hope that you enjoy this just as much as me and my family and that it inspires you to make other delicious meals.
