About Us

This is one of our absolute favorite combo of ingredients on a pizza! The blend of spices mixed with honey and fresh basil is truly addictive. If you haven’t tried honey on your pizza, you are seriously missing out.

Football season has officially started and this pizza is the perfect snack to eat during a game!

We are huge fans of bringing you some easy recipes that are quick to make and deliver on taste! We of course take short cuts whenever we can to make things easy. The dough is store bought. We actually picked up an original hand tossed already made ready to go. If your grocery store sells pizza dough balls and you’re in the mood to roll out your own dough we will not object to that! Both options will deliver an amazing pizza.

No we did not make our own pizza sauce, who has time for that? If you do and you decide to make your own, give yourself a pat on the back from us!! We picked up a nice red pepper based pizza sauce but feel free to go for the classic tomato basil sauce, it will be just as good.

For the salami we decided to go with two different kinds. Your classic spicy genoa salami and added in some German salami. Side note, we always get extra because I can’t help myself to snack on some of these while I prep the pizza and when I come home from work this makes for a perfect snack before dinner. Make sure to grab a good kind of olive for the pizza, we went with one from the olive bar, pre-pitted.

The pizza crust is finished off with everything bagel seasoning –store bought, we did not make our own. For a thin crust pizza this really brings it all together and makes for a delicious crust. If you don’t have everything bagel seasoning at home please add this to your pantry as one of your staple ingredients.

Before serving the pizza, we drizzled some honey on top and crushed red pepper flakes, this combo is seriously addictive. If you have friends over on football Sunday –make extra! This pizza will not last.

If you try this pizza please share and tag us @thecommunalfeast. We love to see others enjoying our food as much as we do!

Ingredients

  • Store bought pizza dough
  • Jar of store bought pizza sauce –we went with a red pepper base
  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Red onion –thinly sliced
  • Jalapeno –thinly sliced
  • 50 grams spicy genoa salami –thinly sliced
  • 50 grams German salami –thinly sliced
  • ½ cup good quality green olives –we went with pre-pitted from the olive bar
  • Crust
  • Olive oil to brush on the crust
  • Garlic powder
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Garnish
  • Honey
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • Fresh chopped basil

Instructions

  • Heat oven according to directions on the pizza dough packaging. Normally around 374 to 400 degrees F.
  • Prep all your ingredients so that they are ready to use when making your pizza. Slice your olives, slice the red onion, slice your jalapeno, shred your cheese and slice the salami –optional but we sliced the salami into strips much easier to eat the pizza that way
  • To assemble the pizza, place your dough on the counter and spoon pizza sauce onto the dough and leave a 1 inch of crust exposed around the edges. Spoon enough sauce to desired preference, my husband likes a lot of sauce on his pizza so put as much as you want or as little.
  • Next you want to sprinkle your cheese over the pizza. Leave enough cheese on the side to go over the pizza again once you’ve added your toppings.
  • Layer the pizza with your salami, red onions, jalapenos and olives. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the toppings. This method helps makes sure that your toppings don’t slide off when you take a bite. To make the everything bagel crust, brush the edges with olive oil and sprinkle garlic powder and everything bagel seasoning.
  • Place your pizza directly on the middle rack of your oven and bake for 12 minutes until the edged are golden brown. If you like your cheese to have more of a golden brown finish, broil the pizza for 1 minute before removing from the oven.
  • To serve, drizzle the pizza with honey, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes and top with freshly chopped basil.
