Kicking off this year’s holiday season with this blushing Pomegranate Margarita. Made with tequila, triple sec, pomegranate juice, lime juice and a homemade pomegranate syrup. Rimmed with a tangy and salty tajin rim to bring it all together. This is a great seasonal margarita playing off those fresh pomegranates this time of year, and warming it up with a hint of cinnamon and star anise. Shake it up at your next holiday get together for a sure fire crowd pleaser.
My go-to cocktail of choice is by far a margarita. It just hits you differently and in the best way. I love love love to freshly squeeze citrus for cocktails and sip away that tasty juice. With every season, I find different ways to switch up my margaritas and make them more appropriate which is why i’ve got this gorgeous pink pomegranate marg.
Pomegranates are huge this time of year. Super popular as we head into winter since their in season right now. You’ll see them in just about every salad, over all the side dishes and of course make its way into cocktails.
I’ve said this before, making a homemade syrup is the way to go when you want unique flavours and your cocktail to stand out. Its so easy. Don’t ever bother buying store bought simple syrup or cane syrup. Waste of money. The standard ratio of equal parts sugar and water for all your syrups from there you alter the liquid with other liquid, and add ingredients to infuse flavours. I’m adding pomegranate juice so I cut back on some of the water and infusing with cinnamon, more pomegranates and star anise for some spice. It takes about 12 minutes from start to finish until it thickens into a syrup.
