Refreshing a classic bourbon sour with a fall favourite twist. Pumpkin puree and our signature homemade pumpkin spice syrup get shaken into a bourbon sour to create the perfect seasonal cocktail to wind down with.
The secret sauce that makes this cocktail so good is the homemade pumpkin spice syrup blended with some pumpkin puree which gives this drink a beautiful warm orange colour. It adds the perfect amount of sweetness to balance out the sour freshly squeezed lemon juice. It’s a combination of a basic starter simple syrup (sugar + water) made with brown sugar instead, which we added pumpkin puree to it and a blend of pumpkin spices.
How it’s made
To a shaker combine bourbon, fresh squeeze of lemon juice, egg whites, spoonful of pumpkin spice syrup (extra if you want a stronger pumpkin taste), a spoonful of pumpkin puree, and finish with a dash of bitters. Shake it all up with ice. Give it a nice hard long shake 45 seconds at least to emulsify those eggs whites so that you get a nice thick froth that sits atop of the drink. Strain in a rocks glass without ice and garnish with a nice sprinkle of cinnamon sugar, cinnamon stick, some dehydrated fruit or fresh herbs if you like.
