The amazing combination of flavors will make this detox drink taste delicious.

Our weekend ritual involves going to the gym early in the morning making sure to get a good sweat with our HIIT routines and lifting heavy weights. We always try to keep our meals nice and light after our workouts which means going for a seriously nutrient-packed protein smoothie.

Carrots and papaya are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin A and fiber plus very low in calories. To top this off ginger is an immune booster and infection fighter. Don’t skip the turmeric, trust us you won’t notice the taste and this powerful herb is rich in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and helps lower cholesterol.

Frozen bananas make this smoothie perfectly creamy, the addition of the mango, papaya and orange juice with naturally sweeten your base, while the turmeric, cinnamon and ginger add a balance of spice and zing. Carrot juice will give you the beautiful orange color your looking for plus make it more appealing to drink.

CARROT PAPAYA DETOX SMOOTHIE

Creamy carrot papaya smoothie infused with ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, mango and coconut milk. Nutrient-rich, naturally sweetened smoothie - perfect way to detox after a long weekend of eating delicious Thanksgiving meals!

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 1 papaya
  • 1 ripe banana previously frozen and sliced
  • 1 mango
  • 3 carrots peeled and cubed
  • 3 tbsp orange juice
  • ½ cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1-2 tsp minced ginger (to taste)
  • 1 tsp flax seed oil
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 large scoop greek yogurt (I used a no sugar added peach greek yogurt which is what I had in the fridge)

Instructions

    1. First blend the carrots with the orange juice to create your carrot juice base

    2. Next add all ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth, adding more orange juice or coconut milk if it has trouble blending.

    3. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more banana for creaminess, cinnamon for spice or ginger for zing.

    4. Enjoy immediately.


Optional garnish: pumpkin seeds and granola
